Position Summary

The Senior Graphic Designer is central to BYU-Pathway Worldwide’s ability to clearly communicate its vision, purpose, and operations to a diverse group including thousands of students and missionaries in hundreds of locations throughout the world. Other constituents include General Authorities, stake presidents, other ecclesiastical leaders, institute leaders, and Self-Reliance Services personnel.

The Senior Graphic Designer is primarily responsible for helping create and maintain BYU-Pathway’s visual image in web, print, and video. This is accomplished in large part through hiring, training, and directing a staff of both full-time and student graphic designers.

A summary of specific job duties include:

Oversee BYU-Pathway’s Visual Communication
• Maintain a skill set that includes web interface design, digital design, print design, and video design/creation (including motion graphics).
• Oversee the visual identity of BYU-Pathway Worldwide.
• Create (and oversee the creation of) design assets, including for, marketing and presentation materials, newsroom, blog, BYU-Pathway’s social media pages, Annual Report, student and missionary onboarding resources, motion graphics, training materials, and executive projects.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of BYU-Pathway’s brand.

Create High-Level Communication Pieces
• Create communication pieces requested by executive leadership, or other BYU-Pathway directors or Church leaders.
• Design collateral for presentations to governing bodies and Church educational committees.

Supervise & Mentor Employees
• Hire, manage, and mentor a design production team consisting of a small team of full-time and student employees.
• Ensure content created by employees supports the mission of BYU-Pathway Worldwide.

Work Location:
The BYU-Pathway Worldwide team is currently transitioning from Rexburg, Idaho, to Salt Lake City, Utah. If the selected candidate lives in Rexburg or the surrounding area, he/she will work from the BYU-Idaho campus until June 2018 and would then relocate to Salt Lake City. If the selected candidate lives elsewhere, he/she will relocate to Salt Lake City upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, web design & development, or other relevant field plus three or more years of professional experience.

Design Programs:
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe InDesign
• Adobe Premiere Pro
• Adobe AfterEffects

Web Programming:
• Understanding of basic web markup (HTML, CSS) and JavaScript is a plus

• Experience working with video, including animated motion graphics
• Film-editing experience would be a bonus

Other Required Skills:
• Powerful mentor and trainer
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to handle challenging situations in a professional manner
• Proven ability to work in a team environment

Work Schedule

Typically Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
